07 SITU REPORTS2016-2018
As Project Manager within the Research division of SITU, I led the development of web-based, interactive spatial narratives in support of human rights advocacy work, investigations, and litigation. Each report brings together advanced mapping, data visualization, and multimedia integration to reveal complex narratives surrounding environmental, cultural, and human rights abuses.
Right to Water Report (2016-2018).
SITU Research collaborated with a team of lawyers, students, and earth scientists from Columbia University’s Human Rights Law Clinic to assist members of an indigenous community in Papua New Guinea in documenting, visualizing, and sharing information on rights violations committed by a transnational gold mine.
Where the Bodies are Buried (2016).
I co-designed and developed the frontend of a website with The Nation Magazine for the presentation of documentation related to alleged U.S. War Crimes in Nerkh, Afghanistan. Synthesizing data from satellite imagery, testimony, photographs, and videos, Where the Bodies Are Buried presents a spatial and temporal exploration of alleged human rights violations.
Scorched Earth, Poisoned Air (2016)
This collaboration with Amnesty International illustrates chemical warfare and scorched earth tactics in Darfur, Sudan. The interactive map presents evidence collected from satellite imagery and local testimonies, confirming the destruction of numerous villages. Launched at the United Nations, this platform became a key tool for policy advocacy on the global stage.
SITU Platform (2016-2018)
A dynamic platform for human rights casework, the SITU Platform is a custom-built system designed to host and visualize vast datasets and evidentiary materials. Used by the International Criminal Court in a precedent-setting trial on cultural heritage destruction, the platform integrates multimedia and geospatial data to produce fact-based reports for advocacy and litigation.
